The FY19 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) includes funding for design work on two key projects: a High School Center and Scottsville Elementary Additions and Renovations. Both projects are scheduled to begin in January 2019. If the construction is ultimately funded, construction would start in the spring of 2020 with completion by the 2021/22 school year.

The total budget for the High School Center is $35.1M. The project includes land acquisition and construction of a 90,000 square foot building to accommodate up to 600 students in a contemporary learning environment. The center will be strategically placed to provide access to interdisciplinary, project-based, specialized programming, and act as an interface between the school, community, and professional organizations that provide out-of-building learning experiences to include internships and other work- and community-based learning experiences.

The total budget for the Scottsville Elementary Additions and Renovations is $11.7M. The project will include a gym and classroom additions, and improvements to the existing building. The additions are anticipated to include 4 classrooms, 2 smaller resource classrooms, 2 offices, bathrooms, a 6000 sq. ft. full-size gym, and other associated support spaces. Improvements to the existing building will be explored with an exact scope to be determined during the design process and as budget allows.

A Request for Proposal (RFP) was issued for Professional Services to design these projects through the Design Development Phase. Based on School Board Policy FEA- Facility Design, an Architectural/Engineering Selection Committee is to be appointed jointly by the School Board and the Superintendent, when the fee for such services will exceed $100,000. As such, we recommend the members of the Architectural/Engineering Selection Committee as identified in Enclosure 1.
Funding for Design Services for each project is included in the 2018/19 Capital Improvements Program.
Approve the Architectural/Engineering Selection Committees, as noted in Enclosure 1, for the Scottsville Elementary and High School Center projects.
