QuickStart of Central Virginia (QSV) is an organization, which seeks to improve children's lives through playing tennis, particularly children in rural areas. QSV would like to apply for a grant that would allow the construction of a 56-foot wide by 86-foot long, paved pad to accommodate three (3), QuickStart, 36-foot tennis courts at Stone Robinson Elementary School. The proposed work will also include the installation of posts, nets and court striping; a detention swale; a chain link fence on all four sides; and two (2) gates. In addition, all necessary permits will be obtain by the donor and site plan approvals will be obtained by the School Division. |

A requirement of the grant process is to obtain a commitment from the School Division to maintain the courts once constructed. The annual maintenance costs is expected to be less than $1000/year (weed-eating, spraying herbicide around the perimeter, trash removal, annual pressure washing, and net maintenance). In addition, the courts will need to be resurfaced every 5 years at an estimated cost of $7,500. Finally, CIP funds will need cover the cost of the project management fee, estimated at $1,920. |

|
Recommendation
