Summary: The Stone Robinson Elementary School PTO has submitted a proposal to fund and construct Phase II of the outdoor playground area, to enhance the outdoor play experience. The principal has reviewed and approved the project. The Building Services Department has approved the project and will work with the PTO to secure bids, and will oversee construction to assure that all necessary materials meet established specifications and that the finished project is safe and requires only minimal maintenance. A landscape architect, who is also a PTO member, has created drawings to illustrate the elements of the new playground. A detailed site plan for the play area is enclosed.
The Building Services Department will obtain the necessary project permits. A licensed and insured Class A Contractor will manage and complete the project. It is expected that the project will be completed prior to September 2019.
Funding: The cost of Phase II is approximately $20,000, and the PTO is committed to funding all phases of the project.
Recommendation: Approve the concept of the Stone Robinson ES Outdoor Play Areas. Upon project completion, the project donation will be brought back to the School Board for final acceptance.
