Summary: The Meriwether Lewis Elementary School PTO recently voted to approve funding for the attached proposal of outdoor canopies. The proposal includes both the materials and installation of the shades. The proposed outdoor shades would be procured by the Meriwether Lewis PTO and installed by our customary, certified playground equipment installer as shown, providing shade adjacent to the playground and creating outdoor learning spaces. The principal has reviewed and approved the project. The Building Services Department has reviewed and approves of the project. The Building Services Department will inspect the structure yearly, as part standard building maintenance assessments. The project requires only minimal maintenance, and at the end of its useful life will be removed. The project is expected to be complete prior to September 2019.
Funding: Meriwether Lewis Elementary School’s PTO is committed to funding this project, with the $21,639.00 cost of the proposal already raised.
Recommendation: Approve the concept of the Meriwether Lewis Elementary School Shade Structures. Upon project completion, the donation will be brought back to the School Board for final acceptance.
