In accordance with VA Code, local school boards are required to annually review the written school crisis and emergency management plans. The superintendent shall certify in writing that review has taken place no later than August 31 of each year to the Virginia Center for School Safety (VCSS). Each principal has been asked to certify that their crisis plans are based on the State Department of Education Crisis Management Resource Guide (http://www.doe.virginia.gov/VDOE/Instruction/model.html), and that their plan is updated each year with the new information about the new teachers, the classroom assignments, and the current evacuation plans. Each school principal has certified that their crisis plan has been reviewed and updated. The certifications and plans are attached for review. |
