Subject: For adoption of AP Science Textbook
ACPS Division Objective :
Goal 1
Thriving Students
Policy: IIA - Instructional Materials
Enclosure Thirteen AP Science teachers from across the division were invited to attend a textbook resource review. In addition, representatives were invited from four textbook companies to present their resources with educators, Norton, McGraw Hill, Pearson, and Bedford, Freeman, & Worth. Time was provided for questions and answers with each company. The last time ACPS adopted textbooks for students in AP Science courses was over 10 years ago. College Board requires the school to ensure that each student has a college-level biology textbook (in print or electronic format) published within the last 10 years for individual use inside and outside the classroom. The textbook is supplemented when necessary to meet the curricular requirements. The school ensures that the teacher has a copy of the most recent edition of a college-level biology textbook or other appropriate materials to support instruction. Educators were looking for a resource that provides students opportunities to develop student understanding of the required content outlined in each of the units described in the course and exam description (CED).The course provides opportunities to develop student understanding of the big ideas, as outlined in the CED.
