Summary:
|
School Board members serve on the CATEC Center Board and the PREP Board of Control as established in Policies BHF and BHG. In addition, Board members serve as liaisons and committee members for several other commissions, organizations and school board established committees.
Committee and board appointments are reviewed annually during the organizational meeting with changes being made to assignments at that time if necessary.
CATEC: Three Albemarle County School Board members serve on the Charlottesville-Albemarle Technical Education Center(CATEC)Board. Terms on the CATEC Center Board are staggered three-years, as follows:
Dr. Acuff - term will expire on December 31, 2022
Ms. Osborne - term will expire on December 31, 2023
VACANT (held by Ms. Callsen, term expired Dec. 31, 2021) - term will expire on December 31, 2024

PREP: Two Albemarle County School Board members serve on the Piedmont Regional Education Program(PREP) Board as primary and alternate. The PREP Board serves special education students in the division, which is a part of a joint effort with other school divisions. The PREP term is one-year. Mr. Paige served on the PREP Board as the representative with Ms. Le serving as the alternate. Their terms expired on December 31, 2017.

Recommendation:
|
1) Appoint one board member to serve a three year term on the CATEC Center Board. Term will expire on December 31, 2024.
2) Appoint one board member to serve as the primary representative on the PREP Board for a one year term. Appoint one board member to serve as the alternate representative to the PREP Board for a one year term.
3)Appoint members to serve on other committees, commissions, organizational boards as necessary.
