Summary:
|
The Code of Virginia section 22.1-72 requires school boards to organize annually. The organizational meeting shall be held in January or July if the school board serves a county in which its members are elected.
Code of Virginia section 22.1-76 establishes that the school board shall elect its chairman, shall approve a designee of the division superintendent to attend meetings of the school board in his/her absence, and on the recommendation of the division superintendent shall appoint a clerk of the school board. The school board may also elect a vice-chairman and may appoint a deputy clerk.
The term of the chairman, clerk and any vice-chairman and deputy clerk shall be one year. |
