Summary:
|
Bellwether, a nonprofit educational consultancy firm, completed a division-wide audit of ACPS educational programming, practices and resources, with a primary focus on reading and math instruction in elementary schools and Algebra 1 instruction in secondary schools. On average, ACPS outperforms the state of Virginia on a number of key achievement measures. Historically within the district, however, performance on these same measures varies greatly, with students of color and economically disadvantaged students demonstrating far less achievement than their white peers. This presentation is a high-level overview of the four attached reports requested by the division (a root cause analysis, a report on the holistic experiences of students of color, a report on the classroom experiences of students of color, and a report on the role of systems/structures in the division that contribute to these outcomes). |
